Sang-e-Siah Boutique Hotel

Stak Office
Shiraz, Iran
2020

Nestled within the historical fabric of the Sang-e-Siah neighborhood in Shiraz, the Sang-e Siah Boutique Hotel is an exemplary project by Stak Office that seamlessly blends traditional heritage with contemporary functionality. Surrounded by national heritage sites from the Ilkhani, Zand, Qajar, and Pahlavi eras, the design focuses on rehabilitation over demolition, preserving the proportions, geometry, and urban structure of the neighborhood. Rejecting pseudo-historical imitations, the project champions an innovative approach to extending life from block to block, integrating fine-grained structures into a cohesive urban network. By starting with a core structure and planning for gradual expansion, the hotel showcases a sustainable model for revitalizing historical contexts while honoring the technology and cultural needs of the present era.
